NAUGHTY LIST PART 1
Hey guys first short story finally, and happy holidays 🩷 Enjoy!!!
It was Christmas Eve, and his parents had given in, letting him open one present early.
“ Ugh your the worst parents ever”
“I don't like your tone, young man, learn how to appreciate something for once.”
“ you got me the PS3……I WANTED THE PS5”
“You're lucky you got anything to begin with.”
Simon Cornwall gave his father a venomous look, he was only eight years old, yet a notorious brat.
He took the PS3 and stormed up to his room, the house was now filled with silence.
Mr And Mrs Cornwall felt uneasy, Simon was never quiet unless he was up to something. All of a sudden they heard bashing and something being broken apart. They rushed up to his room and found him with a baseball bat in his hand as he stood over his PS3, which was now scattered apart.
“That's it”, his father snapped, “you are grounded till you have fixed your attitude.”
He paused and walked towards the door.
“and don't even think you will be getting your remaining fifty presents!”
Simon screamed but it fell deaf to his parents' ears. His friends had rotted him to the core to not appreciate anything, his parents tried to reach him but Simon's greed had no limit. No ending. He didn't understand what he desired but his hunger for the worldly things was endless, as if gluttony and greed fused into one. And that was only for an 8 year old.
Down the stairs they came across their babysitter Karen.
“we will be out for tonight, there's a dinner i have to attend with my client, do take care of Simon and Anna”
“Sure Mr Cornwall, I hope you and your missus have a pleasant night”
The maid handed them their jackets, they slipped them on before leaving.
From afar a subtle shadow witnessed everything, a crooked smile fell on its face, its eyes gazed through the young lad's windows waiting for the right moment to seize him.
It was now 1:00 a.m. on Christmas Day. His parents were still an hour away from arriving home. The maid was in the servant quarters, while the nanny rested in Anna's bedroom. Tired out from reading a storybook to the four year old girl, she had fallen into a deep slumber.
Simon sneakily headed downstairs to see if his parents hid his presents from him, when he saw the lit up Christmas tree, his eyes shined in excitement, only to dim out quickly. He only saw presents covered in pink gift wrap, meaning it was only for Anna.
Anger rose up in him, he went towards her presents and started ripping apart every present meant for her, his only thought was “if I can't have mine neither can she”, he got the scissor from the kitchen and ripped her dolls and teddy bear apart. All the cotton and her new dresses were scattered across the living room.
“Poor little Anna, when she sees this, she will cry, boohoo.” he muttered and laughed cruelly.
Satisfied with his work, he was about to leave the living room, but he saw a tray of cookies and a glass of milk left for Santa.
“ Whatever Santa isn't even real” he grabbed the cookies and started munching on them, crumbs fell on the floor, and he wasn't frightened one bit, that he would get in huge trouble for the earlier ragebait he caused.
He gulped down the milk and, suddenly, heard footsteps in the corridor outside the living room. He set the glass down as quickly as he could.
“Mom…? Dad…?” he whispered, careful not to wake the others.
He gulped down nervously, all that pride earlier crumbled down into thin air, deeply he knew, he messed up but didn't want to admit it. He checked the corridors that were slightly dark; only the moonlight helped him to see in the shadows.
He walked back into the living room but froze before fully entering the room, to find a huge sickly grey figure and not quite human crawling around the room, it held an empty plate that had bits of crumbs to it but it trashed the plate without a care on to the floor, disappointed the cookies were gone..
It's cheek lifted up in a cheeky smile as it knew who was there
“ Well hello Simon”, its voice croaked like a monster he read from the books. Simon figured out that it wasn't human and ran in the darkness to hide from being its prey.
Simon hid in the kitchen bottom cabinet, hoping it wouldn't find him and leave, but alas the cookies sweetness from earlier was sniffed by the unusual visitor and it ended up in the kitchen, the scary visitor lurked around the kitchen, trying to grasp on where Simon could be hiding.
The little boy trembled in the cabinets, scared for his life. But it suddenly left, taking a deep breath. Simon opened the door slightly to see if it was there and luckily it wasn't.
He tiptoed out and from the kitchen window from far as the eyes can see. Simon saw a familiar car that belonged to his parent's, he sighed in relief knowing they will deal with the intruder, he observed the corridor to see if it still lurked about but thankfully no.
He stood in the middle of the corridor for his parents to finally come in, hearing the engine turned off, he was first time pleasant about his parents arrival, but what Simon didn't see was the unusual intruder standing behind him, eyes turned red, as if it was filled with blood, its smile arched into a huge smile, its sharp teeth grasped into a tight chilled smile.
Simon heard the growl, and turned pale as a ghost and froze on the spot, knowing it was right behind him. He prayed that his parents would just enter the house already. He heard footsteps arriving at the door , keys dangling as his parents tried to open the door.
But to Simon's bad luck, the intruder with its huge hand lunged from the shadows, its long fingers like slender man crushing him in its grip, as one finger pressed tightly over his mouth. A sickly green smoke hissed onto Simon's face that was now filled with tears and fear, he accidentally inhaled it, and darkness dragged him into a deep slumber.
The parents came in and saw nothing but the empty corridors like how they left it. As if nothing suspicious had happened. They checked the living room only to be shocked with Anna's present ruined apart on the floor.
Mr Cornwall's nose flared, and his face turned red in immense anger, he knew who was capable of this notorious act.
“SIMON” he shrieked his son's name out loud, shaking in anger, not knowing Simon was long gone.
