YOU'RE IT PART 1

YOU'RE IT PART 1

Hey SHADOWLINGS!, I hope you enjoy this new story, I am still learning and improving as a writer, so please be abit patient, I am only human, but I hope you enjoy this new story.

Curiosity kills the cat

We all heard that phrase right?

So did I…though I wish I took it seriously.

I didn't expect that being over smart would get me trapped , in this half built grave of a building, hearing footsteps that one can tell, it didn't belong to a human.

Yeah I guess you want to hear the story right? Let's rewind back to few hours before, Where i thought this was a brilliant idea -

- “So if that's the case Ms Nora, what flowers should I put on your grave?”,I regretted telling my plans to Juno, knowing she will never support my crazy, near - death, adventure ideas, but since I am a writer, I need inspiration from somewhere right?

“Tough call, if I survive I will come back and tell you, but if I die, I will come in your dreams, and tell you, happy?”

“tch, well I packed your lunch, i don't know how long you will be there, stay safe, I still don't understand, why you have to go at eleven o'clock in the night”.

Juno didn't make eye contact with me, just looked away.. worried, “listen i will be okay”, without saying further, I pecked my best friend's cheeks and left.

I stepped into the open clear view, where the forest once lived, but now, from what the eye can see, just trimmed down trees, and pieces of the branches lying on the floor.

From a distance, an unfinished building emerged from the shadows of the forest, its frame rusted and hollow reflected the pain of the now dead land that once breathed around it.

The air was still and empty like something froze up the place. Then came a sound, a low groan, I took a deep breath, my heart pounding, hoping it was just a metal shifting or something that won't pounce on me. And I made my way toward the building.

Somewhere in my head, I knew it was a bad idea, something in the air didn't feel right. I haven't come this close, and yet it seems like the wind is already attempting to drown my ability to breathe. Will it be worth it?

Thinking about it, I should have just watched a movie, for inspiration. I wish I could go back to my bed and doze off, but since I am this close, there's no point in turning back now. I made it to the entrance, for a few seconds I hesitated to enter.

“I can do this” Can I?

I put my timer on, to remind me when to leave, Just 10 minutes that's all.

But 10 minutes was enough for the entity to capture a soul…. A curious little soul.

As i explored the ground floor, it was dead empty, nothing was there at all, you didn't have to go around, you can see everything from afar, i wonder how these builders do it, it feels like the upper floor are floating and yet its able to hold itself from falling, going towards the stairs, i saw a warning to not go upstairs as there is danger….yeah right.

I checked two floors up, it was slightly empty too, beside the half built rooms that never finished being built up. The walls were crusty and peeled off, half of the walls were left undone.

Now I have ended up on the third floor and it was the same, slowly it felt like a big waste of time ,I could've just binged supernatural for an idea. I grabbed my crisp packet and started to munch before my stomach could eat itself for dinner.

BEEP BEEP Oh 10 minutes up? Thank god I can go now, I walked towards the stairs and made my way down to the exit, while listening to my music on my headphones, that shield my focus from reality.

A faint reality that I was ascending back to a nightmare, instead of descending away from it.

Thinking I had reached the exit finally, I stepped forward, thinking it was freedom waiting beneath me. It was only when my foot met nothing but air, not solid ground, then I realized the ‘exit’ wasn’t a door at all anymore. It was an unfinished edge of the third floor, where a wall should’ve been…

And below, the forest waited like an open grave waiting to pull me in. But before my doom could begin, two firm hands yanked me back from the edge. I fell back with a thud. My bag rolled away from me, while I catched my breath, I got up and my eyes met with a lot of people that apparently were not here before.

Few things I couldn't understand

No1: how the hell did i end up on the third floor again?

No2: where did these people, that are currently staring at me, come from?

And no3: Why is this random boy holding my bag and eating my chips?

He owes me 85 quid!

I took off my headphones, the soulless air dimming the ringing in my ear and before I could even question anything, the man who supposedly saved me before, now covered my mouth with his hand.

I couldn't let out, even a slight muffled scream, with how stern his hand was covering my mouth, and with his other hand grabbed me and lifted me away running, the others followed along, including that idiot still clutching my bag and eating my chips, somehow unfazed by death itself.

I wasn't sure where we were heading, every corner we took looked like an unfinished labyrinth.

“ Whatever you do, do not make a single sound”, His tone itself was enough to make me obey his words.

A growl rose from the dark, wet and croaky. My heart skipped a beat, fearing even the sound of it thumping in my chest, would lure it towards us.

From the edge of the broken wall, a glimpse: skin stretched too tight, limbs bent wrong, eyes like two wet holes searching the dark for its prey. Oh why did I even think this was a good bloody idea? Fearing for my life and regretting my life decision, my eyes turned moist filled with tears dripping down my now paled cheeks, but I quickly blinked it away.

Then it stopped crawling.

Its head turned, it sniffed the air.

And it knew we were here
